STATE WRESTLING

Last weekend we headed down to State Wrestling to watch our nephew, Hunter wrestle in 106 weight bracket.  HE DID AWESOME!  He was the STATE CHAMP!  He had a perfect, undefeated season 49-0 as a Freshman!!!  WE ARE SO VERY PROUD OF HIM!!!!  He is such a disciplined/hard working kid!  His hard work paid off!!! Way to go Hunter!  Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures at the arena.  Daddy and I were a little preoccupied trying to entertain Hoyt!

This was Hoyt's first time staying the night in a hotel.  He really enjoyed it!  The kids loved the swimming and the hot tub.  Kali is a little mermaid and could be in the water for hours.  Hoyt is really starting to love it.  He loved jumping off of the side of the pool into my arms.  He kept saying, "One more!" as soon as he jumped in the pool!  We had a great time!!! It was a nice little get-a-way!  The kids and I only stayed one night, but Daddy stayed with his brother, Jamie, for the Finals.  I think he was kind of happy to see us go so he could concentrate more on the wrestling and Hunter's BIG match.  So, me and the kiddos had to settle for watching the Finals on TV! :)

Kids were very warn out after swimming and the watching wrestling!

This is Hoyt's new favorite puppy!  It is actually Kali's but she doesn't mind him playing with it.  He sleeps with it every night and takes it to daycare after day!!!

Happy Valentines day a little early!!!!

It was valentines weekend at the Washburn household!  Saturday, Chad and I went out to eat to Biaggi's with Tasha and Brian and then we went to Sammy's for a couple cocktails!  It was really nice to get away for an evening.  Thanks to Grandma/pa Washburn for watching the kiddos!

Then on Sunday Grandma Washburn treated us all to bowling and pizza for Valentines Day. Thank you Grandma!  We all had a great time with family...however our bowling wasn't that great!  Kali had a great time bowling and she did  a really great job.  She beat both Chad and my score.  Kali had a 94, I had a 91, Brianna had an 80 something, and Daddy had a 79.  We only played one game....that was enough for us!  Plus, Hoyt was getting a little tired and frustrated because he wanted to play with the balls and we didn't let him until the very end!

Here is Kali's strike dance....I think she had a couple strikes and a few spares!  Our little bowler!

Action Photos!!!

We had a really nice weekend!!!  Happy Valentines Day to you all tomorrow!!!! XOXOXOX

Visiting the Triplets

Thursday night I took the kiddos over to see Laura and her boys!  The kids were all really good and well behaved, until the very end when Hoyt hit Ben on the head.  I think Hoyt was getting a little tired.  I'm just glad Austin had already went to sleep and Hoyt didn't hit Austin! :)  Austin was in pretty good spirits on Thursday and he looks so good after his surgery!  I can't believe the improvements!  He definitely still loves mommy's undivided attention!

Kali and Jackson love the camera!!

Ben loves to carry shoes when he is walking!

I swear the last few times we have gone to Laura's to visit, Hoyt just loves to eat. I think I put him in the high chair at least twice!  I think CJ was up there twice too!

GO HUNTER GO GO!!!!

On Tuesday, Chad and I and the kiddos headed to Alburnett to watch Hunter wrestle in a Conference Duals meet.  Alburnett wrestled BMG first and won that meet and then wrestled against Maq Valley and beat them!!!  Hunter did awesome too.  His first match he won 11-1 and his 2nd match he pinned the guy in the first period.  Hunter is having an amazing year and he is still undefeated!!!  Districts are this Saturday at Summner and the first and 2nd place winners will go to STATE!!!

Good Luck Hunter!!!! Keep up the outstanding work!  We are so proud of you!!!  Your hard work and discipline has definitely paid off!!! :)

E- I- E- I- O

Grandpa Holub had twin baby lambs and one single lamb born, so we took the kiddos to go see them.  Kali loves seeing them and it has been a family tradition to go out and visit them at least a couple times a year!

We started out our visit by visiting Great Uncle Gary and Grandpa Holub inside the house, where they spoiled them rotten with candy and sweets and the kids always get a goody bag to take home!  Hoyt wasn't in the best of spirits because Gary's dog, Gus, was inside and ever since Frodo nipped at Hoyt at Christmas time, he hasn't been too fond of dogs.  He was attached to my hip the entire time and needless to say he wasn't too thrilled about seeing the baby lambs either.  Hoyt was bawling and the more he cried the momma sheep was making more noise....it was a back and forth kind of thing.  Hoyt didn't want anything to do with the lambs.  He would either barry his head in my shoulder or cry! Poor little guy!

Kali on the other hand loves animals!  She was so brave and kind hearted to the baby lambs.  She was picking them up by herself!!!  She wasn't scared at all!  Mommy may have been a little scared for her.  You just never know what a momma may do to protect her babies!  But Grandpa ensured us that the mommas wouldn't buck or kick us.  Kali may be our little Veterinarian, but I guess, I always thought Brianna would be a vet too! :) Here are some pics of our brave little girl.

In the above picture, Grandpa was taking Kali over to see some of the baby calves as they were in the barn sleeping.  We didn't bother taking Hoyt....he wasn't too much into it.  Of course, Kali's famous last words when someone is going to pick her up, "Grandpa, I'm solid!!"  I don't think I have blogged about that, so wanted to put that in there so I will never forget it.  Kali is very muscle bound and she is a lot heavier than she looks.  The staff/teachers at Pointer Pup would tell Kali that she was solid.  So now Kali warns people before they pick her up that she is solid!!!  What a hoot!  I was shocked the first time she said it!!!

After visiting the farm we went back to Grandma and Grandpa's house to watch the first half of the Super Bowl game. We had a very nice day!  Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Holub!!

Poor Little Guy!!!!

Wednesday 2/1/2012, Austin is getting a little feisty....which is good...we like him being active....and he took off his turban in one swoop!

Day 3 after surgery 2/2/2012, Austin is expected to look the worse today, due to all the swelling, then hopefully it will start going down!!! Poor little guy looks like Rocky....or Rocky's opponent!

Here are a couple pictures of Hoyt with Grandma and Grandpa Holub.  They came and visited for a while the night of Austin's surgery.  I would have taken a picture of Kali with them, but she decided to watch a movie and she fell asleep...so Hoyt received all the attention and he was LOVING it!!!  Hoyt and Gpa Holub have definitely bonded and are best pals now!!!  Boy does Hoyt love Gpa's bald head...he either wants to head butt it or rub it!!! :) Silly boy!!!!

What a FIGHTER!!!

Austin's surgery on his skull was a success yesterday, 1/31/2012!

The sutures on his left side were completely closed so these were repaired by essentially flipping his forehead 180 degrees.  His fused skull was not genetic, but was due to the lack of space in the womb.  Austin also had 3 holes in his skull that were fixed.  They did give Austin about 20% blood. The doctors gave him a bit more blood today than needed so they didn’t have to use different donor batches of blood.  I can't believe our technology!  It is truely amazing what they can do!!!

I talked to Laura this morning, she was able to hold Austin for the first time around 8:00 pm last night.  She said she held him until midnight and he slept really good in his bed until 4 this morning.  She said he is starting to become more active and has been playing with his books and toys.  He still hasn't had any food but they have been giving him pedilite!  He is still on morphine and Laura said he is starting to get itchy from it!  His left eye is getting black and blue and starting to swell more.  Austin has also pulled out his IV on his foot and another type of cord on his hand where they would take labs (Laura said the name but I forgot)....but she said he seems happier cause now he can suck his thumb.

We also just receieved an update that Austin will be moving out of the PICU today...whoohooo!!! That means Austin is recovering nicely.  We had typically been told he would be in the PICU for 3 days.  The nurses said this is the fastest any baby has been released by Dr. Menesus!!!  They said he is a little old school and follows all the rules and guideline to the T!

WHAT A LITTLE FIGHTER!  We are so very proud of him and are so thankful that he is getting the wonderful care he deserves!!!  The U of I has just been wonderful!!!

Here are some pictures pre-surgery:

Here are a couple pictures post surgery of Austin:

WE LOVE YOU SO VERY MUCH AUSTIN!!!  WE WILL CONTINUE TO THINK AND PRAY FOR YOU WHILE YOU RECOVER!!!!  XOXOXOXOXO
