CPU Football Game: Honoring Ted Rogers

Hoyt went to his first CPU football game tonight. Hoyt loved it.  He was very quiet for the first half and didn't say much.  He was just taking it all in!!! I think Kali went to a CPU football game when she was a toddler, but this was her first CPU game that she went to attending CPU.

This was a very special game to honor Ted Rogers, CPU's football coach for many years, who is struggling with cancer.  We were able to see Brad and Brian walk behind to support Ted Rogers.

Jackson, Kali, and two of Kali's friends from school, Anna and Zoey.

Most kids love Stormin Normin, however, Hoyt is not one of them.  He was terrified of him.  Anytime Hoyt would look at him he would start to scream and cry! LOL!!

1st Time

On Thursday September 13, Hoyt peed for the first time in the potty chair! We were so proud of him.  However, he hasn't quite figured out the princess rocking chair throne Grandma Dolores got for Kali when she was a toddler.  So Hoyt's first time in the potty he peed standing up! LOL.  He actually did very well, however, I think Hoyt needs his own "boy" potty chair!

I didn't take any pictures of the evidence, but I took a couple pictures of Hoyt in his Hawkeyes robe that Grandma Holub gave him, that he absolutely loves!!!

GOOD JOB HOYT!  I hope your progress continues!!!!

The Best BIG Sissy EVER!!!!!

Kali is very lucky to have a BIG Sissy like Brianna.  For Brianna's Pyschology class, she chose to volunteer in Kali's Kindergarten classroom every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. Brianna could have picked to volunteer where ever she wanted and do what ever she wanted and she chose to share her time with Kali.  We all appreciate and love that Brianna chose to spend her time with Kali's Kindergarten class.  Mrs. Silver appreciates it too, because now she can get to her science lesson that she wasn't sure she was going to be able to get to without Brianna's help.  Kali loves showing off her sissy to all of her friends.  She feels very special.  On Tuesday, Brianna even stayed to the end of the school day so she could pick Kali up and even bought her an ice cream cone!  Kali always feels very special to have Brianna all to herself.

After every school day, I ask Kali what the best part of her day was and her least favorite.  On Thursday, Kali told me the best part of her day was having sissy visit and help with her class and her worst part of the day, was seeing sissy leave!!! Brianna told me that Kali had a hard time seeing her go.  I guess Brianna set the bar too high when she drove Kali home on Tuesday.

On Tuesday night, Brianna and Clint stayed for dinner.  Here are some pictures.....

Thank you sissy for all you do!!!  You are wonderful!!!!

Learning Lesson

As parents, I think we constantly learn what parenting skills work best for our children and we are constantly learning the "do's' and "dont's" of parenting.  Well...last Wednesday, I learned a very valuable lesson.  I thought I should share to possibly help another parent learn from my ignorance or my mistake.

We had registered Kali for Xplosion, a dance team in Center Point, she will be starting in October.  One of her good friend's Macoy is also going to attend this with her.  I was talking to Macoy's mom and Kali asked me if she could unlock the car to show Macoy our car...well yah...that's right....I guess you can probably see where this is going, So, I gave the keys to Kali and she unlocked the door and also went into the front seat and also started my car.  I was right behind our car, so I quickly ran to the front seat, and shut off the ignition.  I WAS SO SHOCKED that Kali started the car.  I have never seen her do this before nor did I think she knew how.  I was shocked that she would even think to do it.  So, to make a long story short, Kali won't be getting the keys for a long time....probably not until she is 14.  We had several long talks about "what could have happened" and "things kids shouldn't do."  So, I guess I'm sharing this so that none of you have to encounter this.  Thank goodness nothing bad happened, so it was a very good lesson learned on my part and one for Kali as well.  I guess you don't assume your child knows what not to do.  You need to walk them through everything!!!

A couple pictures from the weekend.......

Kisha and Rizo soaking up some rays!

Hoyt wearing Kali's Iowa sweatshirt.  It definitely has been getting chilly when the sun goes down!!!  Fall is in the air!

Happy Labor Day!!

We had a wonderful Labor Day with the Holub Family at Gma and Gpa Holub's house.  It was kind of a hot sticky day.  We did play bags for a little bit and the kids played on their little riding toys and we also all went over to see the horses next door.  Hoyt kept saying...I wanna ride it!  The horses seemed very friendly and all the little ones loved it...even Hoyt!! :)  After that we spent the rest of the afternoon inside in the air.  It is always fun when all the cousins get together...but it is a little loud!!! :)  Good thing Gma and Gpa have a BIG house!!

Jordan, Hoyt, CJ, and Taylor!

Me and Austin.  Austin thought I was his momma when Laura was gone!  It was pretty cute.  But, when Laura got back, Austin wanted the real thing!!!

CJ was getting tired and really didn't want any part of the picture with Great Gma Roseberry....maybe next time!!!

Ben and BIG brother, Jackson!  Look at Ben's BIG BLUE EYES and Jackson BIG BROWN eyes!

Gma and Gpa's Friends, Pat and Rick Dunkel also were able to celebrate in the fun!!!  I'm sure they were in a little bit of shock with all the grandchildren!! It is a lot to take in!!! :)

Holy Cow!!

Wow can those Hawkeye's make you nervous.  I hope there won't be many more games like last Saturday's game.  I guess the end result was good but definitely nail biter! :)

My two Hawkeye fans!  Hoyt loves the Hawkeyes and if his daddy or me are wearing Hawkeye clothes, Hoyt has to change and wear Hawkeyes too!!!

The kids wearing Daddy's boots!  I swear I think every kid has a picture in their dad's cowboy boots!!! Love em!

Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!!

Tasha and Brian's Engagement Party

Tasha and Brian's engagement party was Saturday August 25th at Lowes Park in Marion.  It is such an awesome place.  Tasha had the room decorated perfectly!!!  Chad did the smoked pork and Dolores did the party potatoes, potato salad, pasta salad, and sour kraut...the food was amazing!!  It was a very nice night celebrating for two special people!!    Congratulations Tasha and Brian!!!

After we got home, both kids were sleeping in Grandma Holub's lap! It was soooo cute!  The picture shows Kali's eyes open but she actually just woke up briefly.  Thank you Grandma for watching the kiddos and taking them to the farm.  It was nice to have a night away!
