Hoyt's 1st Day of Preschool!

Hoyt was so excited for his first day of Preschool on Tuesday August 27th!!!  He had been waiting for this day for a while!!!

Chad and I had dropped off Kali at her double doors so she could walk into school and then we parked the car to walk Hoyt inside, of course we had to take some pictures before entering the school.  Hoyt was so brave, we hung out for about five minutes talking to his new teacher, Miss Cynthia and watching the other kids play.  It seems like Hoyt has a lot more boys in his class then girls.  I only saw 2 girls and the rest were boys.  I was so surprised when we left that he didn't cry, which made it a lot easier for Mom!!! He just said, "After school, I get to ride the school bus!"  He was so excited about riding the school bus for the first time!!!  :)

We received a letter from his teacher saying they did a lot of crafts, painted, played with play-doo and met some new friends on the first day!!!  Hoyt said he really enjoyed it!!!  YAH!!!!!

Look how BIG Hoyt's bag is! :)

The above picture cracks me up....his bag is almost touching the ground! :)

One last hug!!!

Sauerkraut 2013

Last weekend on Friday August 16th, I took the kids to Gma and Gpa Holub's to ride their new Ranger, while Chad was picking cabbage for our Sauerkraut Extravaganza that we were doing the following day.

1 truck load of cabbage!!! Holy cow do we have a lot of cabbage to do!!!  We still had another short bed truck full of cabbage also!!!  We ended up doing 165 gallon of cabbage!!! WOWZERS...when the Washburn/Clarke family say they are doing sauerkraut, they are NOT messing around!!! :)

All the helpers except for Tasha and Nash, Tasha was putting Nash down for a nap!

Hoyt loved to help.  He was eating the cabbage by the handfuls! :)

Hoyt gets into his work!!! :)

Kali on the the other hand played all day with her cousins!! :)

Cousins: Back Row: Azaria, Ivy, Reese, Kali, Maddie, Isabella, and Hoyt!  They had so much fun playing together the whole day.  Maddie even got to spend the night at our house that night.  Maddie lives in Bell Plaine so we don't get to see them as much as we would like to!!!

The above picture is what the Washburn immediate family will have to can in 6-8 weeks, once the cabbage ferments!  The rest of the crew took their own cabbage home!

It was a great day, with family getting together and working!!!  We all enjoyed a wonderful dinner that Dolores and Wanda made.  It was delicious...it was a little hard to get back to work with a full belly.  I think the cabbage started about 10 and we didn't stop until like 8:30 that night.  It was a long, fun, productive day! :)

Meet and Greet and Kali's First Day of 1st Grade

Thursday August 15, Kali and Hoyt had their Meet and Greet at Center Point.  Kali will be in 1st Grade and Hoyt will be doing 3 year old Preschool, 2 days a week for 3 hours  a day!!!  They both met their teachers and unpacked all of their school supplies. They were both pretty excited!

Tuesday August 20th was Kali's first day of 1st Grade!!! I can't believe how BIG she is getting.  Chad and I dropped her off at school for the first day!  I was quite surprised, but there were no tears shed by either of us.  We went into the school and dropped her off to her 1st grade pod and she gave us both a kiss and joined her friends.  It was very simple!!!

Typically on M-W-F, Kali will ride the school bus from Urbana (from her daycare) to CP (school) and then will ride after school every day to daycare in Urbana. On Tuesday and Thursday, once Hoyt starts Preschool, I will drop them off at CP School and then the school bus will take them to Urbana after school. I was a little nervous at the end of the first day for Kali to get on the correct bus, since Kali has never had to ride a bus before and she didn't ride the bus that morning. I had told her many times, her bus number was 122. So, when I picked her up at the sitter, she did tell me that she got on the wrong bus (bus #2) but the helper helped  her get on the correct bus!  Thank goodness.  She was told some of the rules on the bus is that she can't fall asleep and she can't eat on the bus....two things I didn't know! Kali also said that she thought 1st grade was going to be a lot harder than Kindergarten!

Well, we survived the first day and the first week of school!  So that is a plus!!!  We only had a couple issues.  I learned that school does wear Kali out and we are trying to find a happy medium of what time Kali should get to bed at night because Kali does require a lot of sleep!  Kali said on the 2nd day during Library, she did dose off for a bit when the Librarian read them a story (uh oh). On Thursday morning she was a little tired and upset and crying when I dropped her off to wait for the bus, Kristy (daycare) told the bus driver that she was a little tired and needed to rest, Kali said I can't fall asleep or I'll have to be on the bus the entire day, the bus driver informed Kali that he would make sure if she did fall asleep that he would wake her up! :) She didn't fall asleep so everything went well!

Weekend of Fun in Des Moines!!!

August 11 and 12th, Kali and I had our last hooray of the summer and had a girls weekend.  We went to the State Fair and Adventureland with Michelle and Brianna and two of Brianna's cousins, Quinton and Audrey.  This was Kali's 2nd time at the fair and first time at Adventureland.  It's been a looooonnnnnnggg time since I have been two either place!!!WE had a BLAST!!!

At the fair, Kali saw all sorts of animals, milked a cow, got a henna tattoo, bungee jumped on a trampoline, arts and crafts, was a farmer......I think we did about everything there except for the rides since we were saving that for Adventureland the following day.

The above picture was in an old telephone booth!  Silly girls!

We sat down and had a bite to eat and Kali had to rest!  Kali had been swimming the day before at Jordan's going away party, so she was a tired girl!!!  Good thing Michelle mentioned bringing strollers because we did a lot of walking and we didn't have to hear any complaining about being tired.  The kids were so well behaved and got along so well!!!!  It was perfect!

Michelle and Brianna!

Farmer Kali!

I didn't really get a good picture of Kali jumping on BIG trampoline!  But she loved it.  She was doing double flips!

After the fair, we went to the Cheese Cake Factory. I have never been there before.  It was delicious!

The next day we were off to Adventureland.  Kali LOVED the rides.  She is a thrill junkie! :)  She went on all four roller coaster and every ride she was tall enough to go on.  Too bad the Silly Silo was not working....LOL!  That was one ride, I would have opted out of!  Kali's favorite ride was probably the Falling Star or the Log Ride!!!  Kali and Audrey were in the front on the log ride and Brianna and I were in the back.  Kali got drenched, since she was the first one.  I didn't hardly get wet at all because Brianna was sitting in front of me.  I guess I planned that right!!!  Thanks Brianna!!!  We went on the Falling Star twice.  It was Kali's first ride at Adventureland, she was screaming so hard that her gum popped out of her mouth....it was sooo funny listening to her scream and giggle with delight!  Half way through the day, we went to the water park, Adventureland Bay!  It was really nice!  We went down several water slides and spent a lot of time on the lazy river and the wave pool!  It was a fun filled day!!!!

The above picture was on the Outlaw!

Kali won this teddy bear on her first attempt playing a game!!! That's my girl!!! :)

Hoyt didn't make the trip, but he had a nice weekend with Dad.  They went fishing, went to a buddy's house, and got to mow with his Dad, one of Hoyt's favorite things to do.  Hoyt will make the trip next year :)

Here are a few pictures of Hoyt at Daycare.

Hoyt and his stuffed dog goulash! I have no idea how he came up with the name! :)

He is ALL BOY!!!!
